2. ENGLAND - East Coast - NM Blocks. - Following our survey in September of the Knoll (south side of the River Blackwater estuary), the UKHO is issuing a block for the two relevant SNC and two SCC charts. Whilst the broad outline of the Knoll remains as before, the drying area has significantly moved and enlarged. The Knoll thus provides an obstacle direct from the Spitway to the Nass. The NW Knoll PHB remains correct as positioned. Four separate blocks for each chart. You can download all 4 at: Notices to Mariners
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. Drying heights. - Two new drying heights on the northeast tail of the Long Sand Head and one reduced depths close by the Trinity south cardinal buoy on the Deep Water channel. It should remain prudent not to cut over the end of the tail of the Long Sand Head as it continues slowly to extend to the northeast. Image of course on the same above quoted webpage.

1. Sea Reach - Oikos Jetty No. 1 Dredging - on or about Saturday 11th January 2025, contractors instructed by Oikos Storage Ltd. will commence dredging operations for Oikos No. 1 Jetty. The general location of the operations is shown (see the Local list). These dredging operations will be carried out by the Water Injection Dredging method and will be conducted during ebb tides only by vessel AQUADELTA. The area to be dredged comprises the Oikos No. 1 Jetty berth box as well as the rear, clearance channel and the approach / transit area to the berth. The dredging is expected to be completed within 12 days of commencement. Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’, The display of these signals will be in addition to any lights or shapes required under local regulations and the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. Further details will be broadcast as appropriate by London VTS on VHF channel 68 & 69.
2. Halfway Reach - Fords Jetty - on or about 14th January 2025, contractors instructed by the operator of Fords Jetty will carry out works to the Jetty Pontoon. Works are expected to take no longer than 10 days, between the hours of 0800 and 1600hrs only. The chartlet shows the general location of the works, indicated by the red box: These works will have in attendance of support vessel “BRAVO LIMA” and will include persons working near the waterline, including removal and replacement of the floating pontoons fixtures and fittings. During these works, any requirement to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedure set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’. International Code Flags ROMEO YANKEE. The display of these signal flags will be in addition to any signals, lights or shapes specified by the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at sea and local regulations. London VTS will broadcast further information, as required, on VHF Channel 14.
3. Maintenance Works at Halfpenny Pier, Harwich - the pontoon bridges at Ha’penny Pier will be removed from 08 January 2025 for approx. 1 month for essential maintenance. During this period, foot access to the 2nd and 3rd pontoons from the main pier (and vice versa) will be restricted. For those requiring shore access, berthing options will be limited to the first pontoon only. Contact pier.masters@hha.co.uk for further information. The pontoon bridges will be returned as soon as repair works have been completed. Further works are also taking place on the main pier until mid-late March 2025.
4. River Stour - Dredging Operations – Cathy Anne - will be carrying out water injection dredging operations at Mistley and in the upper River Stour on or around the following dates:
• 13 to 19 January 2025
• 10 to 16 February 2025
• 10 to 16 March 2025
• 09 to 17 April 2025
• 12 to 19 May 2025
• 07 to 13 June 2025
• 07 to 14 July 2025
• 06 to 12 August 2025
5. Dredging Operations – Sospan Dau - dredging operations are taking place as follows: ➢ Sospan Dau (IMO 7711062) - on or around 15 January 2025 – will be carrying out trailing suction hopper dredging around Harwich Haven and Port of Felixstowe for approx. 4 days,
with material disposed to the beneficial sites in the River Stour and Orwell (as per the diagram).
6. Harwich Haven - Dredging and Survey Operations – Update 1 - dredging operations are taking place as follows:
➢ Porthos (Callsign: MYVS5) – from or around 13 January will be carrying out survey operations around Harwich Harbour and Felixstowe berths for approx. 3 weeks.
➢ Strandway (IMO: 9664457) – from or around 16 January will be undertaking trailing suction hopper dredging operations around Harwich Harbour and Felixstowe berths for approx. 2 weeks.
➢ MTS Valour (IMO: 9407299) - from or around 16 January, will be undertaking plough dredging around Harwich Harbour and Felixstowe berths for approx. 2 weeks. For more information contact Harwich VTS on VHF Channel 71.
7. PORT OF GREAT YARMOUTH - Haven Bridge Closure, Great Yarmouth - Norfolk County Council have issued the below warning.
Haven Bridge will be closed at night from Monday 20 January until Friday 31 January 19:00 to 6:00.
For the first week (Monday 20 January – Sunday 26 January) pedestrians and cyclists will still have access across the bridge. But no vehicles will have access.
The second week (Monday 27 January – Friday 31 January) there will be a full closure for ALL users. The bridge closure is required so annual maintenance can be safely carried out.
The bridge will not be lifted to river traffic during this time. Vessels with a safe air draft, may pass under the bridge at the Skipper/Owners discretion.
Mariners are reminded to maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 12 at all times whilst within the Port of Great Yarmouth and to advise ‘Yarmouth Radio’ of their intention to conduct any manoeuvre within the Port prior to doing so. 8. London Array Offshore Wind Farm - Jack-up Operations - Ziton Wind Pioneer - The Jack-up Vessel Wind Pioneer and Support Tug Dian Kingdom provided by Ziton , will be on site carrying out main component exchange works . The vessel will be on site approximately on the 18/02/2025 until the 15/04/2025. Images of vessels available in the Local List in the above quoted webpage. A 500m radius restricted zone will be in place, centred on the Ziton Wind Pioneer whilst pinned on location. If access is required to this zone for non-project vessel traffic, authorisation must be requested from the vessel master.
9. London Array Offshore Wind Farm - Jack-up Operations - Ziton Wind - the Jack-up Vessel Wind provided by Ziton , will be on site carrying out main component exchange works . The vessel will be on site approximately on the 13/01/2025 for a 6 week period. Equipment will be periodically deployed and suspended from the vessel crane during jack up operations. A 500m radius restricted zone will be in place, centred on the Ziton Wind whilst pinned on location. If access is required to this zone for non-project vessel traffic, authorisation must be requested from the vessel master.
10. London Array Offshore Wind Farm - SOV WTG access tests for summer service campaign - the SOV REM ENERGY will be on site from 21/01/2025 for 2 days carrying out a WTG access test at various locations within the windfarm in preparation for a summer service campaign. The REM ENERGY has a length of 89m and breadth of 20m with a draft of 4.5m (image). Equipment will be periodically deployed and suspended from the vessel crane during jack up operations. A 500m radius restricted zone will be in place, centred on the Wind Server whilst pinned on location. If access is required to this zone for non-project vessel traffic, authorisation must be requested from the vessel master. The Vessel will be supported by Windcat 29, 21 and 39 as required during its time on site at London array.
11. Dover Harbour - Diving Operations - Wellington Dock - that diving operations will take place within the Wellington Dock to install the closure wall into the old Tidal Basin as shown within the red circles on the image available. Mariners should pass well clear of the boat at low speed with minimum wash. VTS and or Dover Marina will advise of any additional precautions on VHF Ch.74 and or Ch. 80.
