The race looked like a serious endurance trial and fair enough if that's your thing, no need to go to the southern ocean, just race as hard as you can out of the Solent in July. But do the competitors make contributions for their rescues? Of part of their entrance fee? "'The club would like to thank HM Coastguard and the RNLI for their assistance." seems a bit weak.

Still, I see the Daily Mail had their top yachting correspondent on the job "Another sailor suffered a serious head injury when he was struck by a beam and knocked overboard before being rescued by his crew mates."

That sailor was lucky he wasn't struck by a reported mote as well. :rolleyes:
