Well this is a first. Ever since we bought our boat, a Nordhavn 40, in 2015 I have looked at brokerage listings from time to time, as we all do, just to keep an eye on the market. There have always been at least 2 for sale, sometimes as many as 6 or 7, which would be about right considering that 69 were built, so far as I know 68 are still in use, 10 years is a reasonable average time for people to own a boat like this, and typically they take from 6 months to a year to sell. Today I can't find a single one for sale, anywhere in the world. This feels weird, and I'm wondering what other boats there might be where the second hand supply has dried up completely.

Sirrius yachts, very seldom on the second hand market. I know of someone who was looking for years and succumbed to putting a deposit on a new one last year for a 2024 build slot

Mine circa 21 units built has been like this for years .About once in 5yrs one comes on the market .
Learn to live with it .
I have had three dock walkers and one from this forum enquire “ is it for sale “ since 2015 when I got it .

I have noticed the same with P42s, any that come on the market that are nice seem to sell almost straight away and considering how many Princess made you would think that there would always be a few for sale, all that said we have now owned Rioja for 7 years and have no wish to part with her as she just does everything really well . Let’s see what the next year or 2 bring ?‍♂️.

Not very popular then ;)
Sorry couldn’t resist.
Haha !
Depends which end of the telescope you put to your eye .Do you see rare and desirable or “ not very popular?
Only made 37 cars .

Back to boats the covid / staycation factor has yet to wash out .Sprinkle in a little talk of rate risers , recession air faire hikes, fuel hikes etc and we will see by 2024 what the underlying market is ?

Itama 42 was only produced for two years in 21 units, and then they made the 48 (same boat but with round windshield) in like ten other units in a year and a half.
Total production run 2000 till 2004.

Considering all is not so bad, cause Amati hardly build a boat without an order, beside the first or second units, he used no dealers in Italy, and had dealers only for Spain/Balearics and for the South of France/Corsica, both of them introduced in the early nineties, and till today are Itama dealers.
Amati was also a bit like the old Enzo, if he did not like you he would not sell you a boat.
I know of persons whom he said in Genova some years back, I can show you around and are welcome here as it is a boat show but I will not build you a boat even if you pay me double.

I think that is the vintage of P42 that had a new boat coming off the line every Friday. The line had the boats offset by about 45 degrees in order to get them in the shed. But a boat every Friday is quite impressive.

Boats are still selling quickly and Brokers are short of listings. Like most I too have a search every now and then to see what Hardy Commodore 36’s are on the market and the answer is usually one or none. When we bought ours in 2020 it was one of three on the market and since then I know only of two more that have appeared up for sale.

It's interesting that I saw boats.co.uk advertise a Fairline 38 GT (although they listed it as Open) today. I went online and it's POA which is very unusual for a boat like this. However, I don't think I have seen a Fairline 38GT on the market in the UK in at leat 18 months so they probably don't know what to price it at, hence POA. I was going to call to find out but I realised it was going to be a case of name your price.
