I'm just a ditch creeper really but as a first taste of salt water I would like to try some v.short coastal hops in my tender. If I made it from mum's house in seaford to newhaven could I go in the harbour for a look around, or will some jobsworth harbourmaster slap a fine on me?

ED! You should have no problem what-so-ever. Like anything else all depends on what you are up to. If say they are berthing a commercial vessel and you became a danger to them or yourself then of course they will whinge. If you roar around the yacht berths spilling Haydn type's G & Ts then they will stamp their feet petulantly at least maybe even say call out a word or two at you such as Tsk!. Otherwise - go! enjoy! I'm not going to say anything about safety equipment, you got enough sense to post here, you got enough sense for that too.
have fun :)

Thanks Haydn, would like to get number 1 boat as far as coast. Last week difficult to get the enfield outdrive to drop securly into forward gear. I suppose I could go everywhere flat out in reverse, and rename it 'Taliban'. I think I need to adjust the cable but SWMBO thinks Xmas shopping is more important this weekend!
