I hope someone out there can help me , i have a northstar 557 chartplotter which is ais ready so i went out and bought nasa ais engine, and thought i was going to plug it in to the back of the plotter or something. but its not than easy, is it? so i assume i have to wire it in to the northstars navbus? where? which colour? do the connectors have to be free or can more than more than one wire share, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks bob

I had this problem with my Navman which is the same machine. You will have to buy a special cable that conects into the cable from the GPS aerial and the back of the plotter.
there is no way round this because there is somthing special inside this extra cable. I spent nearly 3 months in conjunction with Navimo last year trying to sort it out and even they could not explain why.
once connected with the new cable it works a treat.
