Hi all,

Does anyone know the depths over the Nore Swatch at the moment?

We are heading up the Thames from Queenborough next week and usually hit it about LW.

Nick

Rumpus.

Went both ways over it in September, and there's plenty for us drawing 1.5m... Can't think much changes there?

'Fraid it does. I sailed over it the other way six weeks ago. There was a minimum of 2-2.5m over CD well inland of Nore Swatch (R) and Grain Edge (G) buoys - but it's shallower than appears on the latest charts.

Worth a look at the Navionics Web App, switched to show 'SonarChart' bathymetry, their overlay of crowd-sourced depths. You'll see how the 'Flats' sands off the Isle of Grain have bled seaward in the direction of the wreck.

I went that way twice in the last week, both times at LW (on passage between the Swale and St.Kats) and I noticed as we skirted the shallows that we were further east than seen in recent years. But I never go from one buoy to the other anyway, I always cut the corner as much as I can. I draw a bit less, though, 1.2m.
