Hi, currently in the process of refitting a leaky wheelhouse window frame, the frame came out quite easily as the sealant originaly used was non adhesive but had broken down.. Any reccomendations on a good quality non adhesive sealant??

Yes but he says he wants a non-adhesive sealant.

The only things I can think of that will seal against leaks without adhering to anything are gaskets, o-rings and suchlike.

If the requirement is to have something that doesn't adhere to the glass, perhaps a rubber or neoprene strip stuck to the frame would be the answer.

Arbomast BR is not an adhesive. Its a non setting mastic, stays gooey, does not form any kind of mechanical bond.

"Arbomast BR exhibits good adhesion to many common construction

There must be something wrong with my understanding of the English language. I would have thought that something that exhibits good adhesion is adhesive.

I think your interpretation is wrong. That means when in contact with a substrate that it stays on it, doesn't just fall off, like polysulphide falls off acrylic. Your quote does not mean it has any mechanical properties for attaching items together.

I've been using Arbo BR for 20 years of wooden boat ownership on windows and deck fittings and through hulls where later disassembly needs to be easy and not risk damaging the wood. Its like 'shit to a blanket' on glass, plastic, wood and painted surfaces. But does not set and does not form any mechanical bond.

Arbomast BR seems to be just what i need, have ordered two tubes for the job, a mild adhesion is not an issue, just dont want sikflex like adhesion in the event the window would ever need to come out again.
Was first considering using butyl tape, did not know it was available in tube form, thanks for the info..
Universal Marine Sealant was also recommended.
