Competitive or otherwise challenging powerboating gets even less coverage than sailing does (unless it's 'our Ellen') so no surprise nobody knows who's who and there's no award for being outstanding at it. There must be big names in the activity but I certainly don't know any of them.

IIRC Steve Curtiss who was at that time 5 x world champion in his power boating class, won the Yachtsman of the Year either last year or the year before.

I agree that the coverage of this sport is pitiful.
