I've heard of people making PVC skirts for the back end that interrupt the wavelets and cut out the slapping noise. I guess that you would need to weight the lower edge.

I have an aft cabin on my boat and often the slap slap of the waves on the hull keep me awake. Has anybody any solutions to stop this?
Thanks

That's the playful sound of the ocean lapping invitingly at your hull. Once you get rid of that all you're left with is the funny crackling noise.

Change the boat for one with a nice forecabin! And sleep there.

The correct answer of course! If you buy a boat made to attract at boat shows, you get a big aft cabin and slapping waves, if you buy a boat made for people with experience, you get a decent quiet forecabin...
Sleep in the forecabin?
Or better still, sleep in the forecabin AND drink loads!! Works for me /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Earplugs(Noise-X foam ones preferably).
Sorts out the Snoring Skipper Problem, the Gin Palace Generator problem, and the Drunk Neighbours problem all at the same time!

[/ QUOTE ]Or buy an older boat like ours that has a decent(?) aft cabin but doesn't suffer from wave slap.
Furthermore it doesn't trip up over its own keel or broach when overpressed and going to windward like some fat flat bottomed big volume more modern boats do.
No aspersions on the orginal posters boat - I haven't looked to see if he/she declares what it is in their profile.
