Hi, can anyone help... my Dad has recently bought a 1985 Nimbus 2600 aft cabin. Where is the calorifier likely to be found? We have looked in all the obvious places but have found nothing so far (yes it has hot water!). Anyone know where to look before we dismantle huge sections of inner trim??!!

Yup you would think that was the obvious solution, the pipes go down a black hole at the back of the galley and aparantly dont re-appear!!! There seems to be a fair amount of 'fixed' panels around, so didnt want to have to remove/disturb any more than required!!

Should re-appear in the engine bay (assume you have the engine heating the water)... You may find it stuck underneath the steps, which is a nice location to "hide" stuff like that. (quite typical of some Scandinavian boats)..

Silly question time, what exactly is a calorifier? I thought it was just a water purifier (the hot water bit has thrown me...)?

Hot water tank, same as in your central heating. Instead of a boiler heating the water, it use the engine cooling water circuit.

Hi Mike, Think I spotted yours in the aft port side of your engine bay the other day. I think I spotted an immersion heater fitted to it as well as well, so you can run off shore power.

regards

Brian
