When is it time to replace the keel bolts? has anyone any idea on what we should find, mainly what the 'Bolt' end in the bottom of the keel looks like. and then an easy and pain free way of removing them. Any other infornation anyone has about this boat would also be welcome.

cheers chris.

You might also try to find a copy of "Yacht Construction" by Ken Jurd. Ken was principal draughtsman at C&N, and the illustrations may show what was the usual practice for that company.

I sailed in Damian B

in the 1960s with the then owner and his family, Air Commodore Ronald Kellett (he was a Battle of Britain pilot and CO of the Polish Air Squadron).

The boat was based at Rye in Sussex and did frequent trips across the channel to Dieppe, Boulogne and to the Channel Islands.

As to the keel bolts I suspect that like many others they are tapered and possibly have a small lead plug covering the head. Once the nuts are freed (probably no easy task) and the lead seal removed they can be driven downwards through the keel.
