Hi all the weather looks to remain settled for the week so next Saturday and Sunday should be quite nice out on the water. I'm thinking of heading to East Cowes as an easy and short early season trip and plan to eat in the Lifeboat pub at East Cowes Marina. Anyone else fancy coming along?

Alas, Club Weekend Rally to Bembridge, first rally we've got a chance to get away rather than be blown away this year-we're going over Friday too, hopefully, so if you were going the long way round.....

haha that would be a very long way around for me now :D

Still propped up in the yard for another three weeks. I'll be liberally coating myself in blue gunk this weekend with an incidental sprinkling finding its way onto the bottom of me boat.

at least you have nice weather for the painting this year :) Let's hope it lasts long enough for you to enjoy the boat in the water too!

A friend and I will be there about 7pm tonight. A Leisure 23sl called Fortuna, turquoise sprayhood and stack pack.

FYI the Lifeboat have no tables this evening as they have a wedding on and have reduced tables due to the new pool table taking up half the dining area. Probably better to go to West Cowes if you plan to eat out, we'll be walking over there shortly.

Sorry Dave. A misunderstanding means I won't be over tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

No probs my dad joined me in the end and all the other forumites have their boats in the carpark so you're not missing a big party :)

Oy, mine's afloat!

No sails, though, no steering wheel, and no batteries or wiring to start the engine. So might as well be in a car park :(

Pete

Hopefully the weather allowed you to get closer to completion, it was a smashing weekend on the water so you don't want to miss too many of them.

Apologies to Spottydog, I had meant to come and say hello but forgot all about it.

Annoyingly, it didn't. I seemed to get hardly anything done - my plan for re-gelcoating the binnacle didn't work very well, the (very expensive) sealing strip I bought for the cockpit locker lid turned out to be the wrong size (after I'd had two attempts at sticking it on with equally expensive glue) and I somehow never got round to reassembling the engine box.

All I can really point to is having run new power cables for the autopilot, and shifted the galley sink drain to make room for bigger batteries. Oh, and I finally reconnected the freshwater system (inconsiderately cut by the keel-repair people) and sterilised the tank, so I guess that's another thing off the list.

The cooker is buried underneath the alternator access hatch, sundry rags, the engine start/stop controller, and a washing-up bowl containing the steering cables and a splash of diesel.

This whole "bigger boat" malarkey definitely has its downsides :ambivalence:

Indeed, the only item on that list that my little boat even has is the watching up bowl, and that holds the kettle anyway. Even if I filled my boat to the brim, the cooker could only be buried 3 feet deep at worst :D

I'd better not mention the excellent m/sail over to Bembridge and back, and the long sunny walks, and excellent pub grub at BHYC now Gael Force(RVYC caterers) are doing it, this weekend.
But, Why does the wind only get up to more than 12kts just when you have to take in sail?:(

Always the way, although we can at least be thankful the wind was better at sea than in the boat yard :)
