Next boat - is my wish list achievable?

I am in a similar situation. Currently have a sonata and an looking at the next boat up. My only addition would be that in an ideal world it would trailer able. I'm on the north east and the cruising is very limited so would want to take it over West coat Scotland once a year for cruising plus West Highland week.

What about a first 27.7?

Not sure about the 27.7 but the older and rather fast First Class 8 is an option.

I would love one of those but they get crucified under IRC unfortunately.

The 260 is a bit better handicap wise, but I would worry that it's not that much bigger inside than our current 235. There's a bloke on here who had a Trapper TS240 that he rated very highly but again you may find it's not that much bigger than a Sonata. There's also the Hunter Delta 25 and the Super Seal 26 / Parker 27 which I would say are on the large size for trailering.

Super seal 26 "Whisper" built by John Baker Kenton Forge, which did well in AZAB (Gerald Tatton -Brown spellcheck) had internal ballast iron which was encapsulated? little weight in the Daggerboard maybe about 350kgs corrections welcome. There is a superseal in Dun Laoghaire with a fixed fin:Gung Ho.Don't know about the heavier Parker keels, maybe they are faired over as well?
You need to find an owner who really wants to sell, as the boats tend to be marked up due to perhaps rarity value and good performance.Bonus could be it might be ok on your existing trailer, subject to its load bearing ability.

Might be a good idea to start a thread entitled "how to keep the water outside a Delta 25"Should produce some ructions and denials!:D

mrming;4835323Feeling 286 looks interesting though - I'll investigate that one further.[/QUOTE said:
I used to own one of these. They are fairly roomy for their size with an aft loo comparment and double berth aft. The forward berths are short and the saloon berths are narrow. The engine is over the top of the keel, so ideal position. Fairly quick, but does need reefing earlier than some as quite tender. I mainly sailed it single handed, including using the spinnaker, and one day on a beam reach with a No1 jib and full main hit 9.62 knots!

Could buy a Hunter Impala.... And some fantastic new sails. A complete bandit on IRC and can clean up in mixed fleet racing if sailed well. Can be cruised. Great upwind and money left over.
