I bought a new Mariner outboard yesterday for the tender. Spend about 10 fruitless minutes trying to start it then remembered to turn the fuel switch on (at least I did have the kill cord attached). Anyway, the motor seems to pull with a lot more power than the old one even tho' its the same rating (4hp). So up on the plane even in a bit lumpy (for size of boat) sea with just me on board at less than full throttle. However, the propeller seems to aerate (or do I mean cavitate?) when approaching full throttle - just stops biting. Can this be corrected by trimming differently? Weight distribution perhaps?
