Empty a litre bottle of Coca Cola in to kettle, boil it up and throw away. No idea if it works, but sounds fun. You could video the process for our entertainment?

We've had thousands of kettels, several at least, and none of them has been tainted. Throw it away and get another.

Thanks for the info... I'm just pulling you up on your spelling of kettles, I know you won't mind because you pulled me up on my spelling a while back.... revenge is sweet ?

The only part of the kettle that is plastic is the whistle
Can you remove the whistle? If the plastic taste comes from that then no amount of soaking and cleaning of the rest of the kettle will help. I had assumed you were talking about an electric kettle but a metal gas one shouldn't taste of plastic

Wow, that's a lot and I think I've had about 5 at home in the last 50 years. I still have the previous one as an emergency spare, still looks perfect inside and out. They just seem to go on forever as our water supply is very soft.

I can't recall my all-metal camping kettle from Decathlon being very expensive. It serves onboard use just as well as campsite. I noticed that they do a 1ltr whistling model for £6.99 these days.
