New Jaguar

A fair point. But it would be nice if a marque with such pedigree actually looked like nothing else, or at least not nearly identical to another marque owned by Ford. This whole badge engineering thing is a bit depressing. Celebrate the differences I say.

Many years ago a motor magazine published the man hours that went into certain luxury cars.
Aston Martin came out top, even over Rolls Royce.

Jaguar and Aston Martin might now be badge engineered
but I suspect there are more man hours in the Aston

Jag and AM have always chased different market sectors and had very different pricing.

As for badge engineering, if Jag and Astons are badge engineered Fords, then Ferraris are Fiats, Lambos are Audis and Porsches are well developed Beetles! The only really pure brand left in the world is TVR - they design and build their own bodies, engines chassis and interiors - not a single light switch or dial is from another brand and none of their parts are used by any other manufacturer - ironic really when you consider they started out using nothing but other peoples components! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
