I did something similar in Titchmarsh Marina, which has two car parks, both with access to the pontoons. Parked in one, went off sailing for a few days and came out into the other. I was two minutes away from reporting the car stolen when I twigged.I don't need too know how I got to my destination, nor why I went their - I just want to to know how to go home.
A bit of drift. I parked the car outside the HSBC in a multi storey car park attached to a mall. I had to go up and down escalators/travelators to visit the retail outlets I had been directed to visit. I then went back to my car, outside the HSBC. The car was no-where to be seen. I walked along the row of cars, all white, grey and black - no car. I was becoming a bit frazzled. I went back inside, sure enough there was the HSBC. I retraced my steps - there were 2 HSBC 'outlets' one on top of the other (no idea why) I had parked outside one but returned to the other one. At a distance the two offices were identical with, obviously, all the same livery.
We now have a new car, bright orange, with a find my car alarm in the 'key' fob.

Perish the thought - all those people coming back at closing time having forgotten where they parked their boatAll AWBs in marinas should be provided with 'car alarms on key fobs'....
