I placed one in My Nicholson instead of my old Perkins. It was half the physical size and more powerful. They're Spanish and based on the blocks of Kubota and Mitsubishi. They come in various sizes.
If you pick one up in Belgium or Holland you can probably pay 0% VAT too..

A friend with a Konsort has a Nanni fitted.They are the same block as the Beta.He is very satisfied.I had a Nanni in my previous boat & it gave no trouble.Might be worth looking into.

If you have a Bukh DV20 then a DV24 is a drop in replacement. Same prop, shaft, beds etc. Maybe more expensive to purchase but cheaper to install. I recon it would work out not much mre expensive in the long run and be a quicker Job.

Are you sure? I thought that the gearbox was different and the shaft would not line up.

One of my mates with a Konsort is in the process of replacing his Bukh 20hp with a new one. He expects it to be a "drop in" replacement needing no expenditure on ancillary items.

What is wrong with a full recondition of a dedicated marine engine. We have just had our VP2003 completely overhauled at a third of the cost of buying and fitting a new engine - even at VP costs.

Out on the water last weekend and full power with no problems.

We had the Bukh DV20 reconditioned on our previous boat. Well worth the cost.

No new engine, no new bed, no new shaft, no new prop.

about 2 yrs ago I bought a reconditioned Bukh 20 hp engine with new peripherals ( alternator, water pump, etc ) from Brian Carter at sailing.salcombe@btopenworld.com or 01548 842094 for £2500 plus my old engine
Very Courteous, installed it promptly (extra £250 in Cardiff), 12 month warranty and no probs since (I'm not connected to him, just found him good) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
