Just realised what a rubbish photo the one of the anchor is. Sorry about that, yes it’s a delta. Had one on the P50 and it has been great.

No swivel on the link. It always keeps the right way up. I din’t think the windlass allows the chain to turn and the anchor is self righting anyway,
Be careful mentioning anchors!!!

BTW I couldn't disagree more.
Still, it is your own experience that counts.

I'm a big supporter of Delta. Can remember some stormy nights where it held and all around me didn't. Not saying it is the absolute best of the best, and actually I found the Ultra even better, but I'd be very happy with a Delta and was for 15+ years. Very much imho.

Also had generally good experience with the Delta over many years of use on different boats and in lots of different conditions,

On my last boat, I switched from the original 32kg Delta to a 33kg Rocna. Other than setting slightly quicker and more abruptly, and perhaps holding slightly better in weed, I didn't notice a lot of difference. Both anchors usually set quickly and both held equally well in some pretty challenging conditions. My current boat has a 32kg Delta fitted by Sunseeker and this year I plan to upgrade to a 35kg Ultra (there isn't room for anything larger), so it will be interesting to compare.

These things always turn into an anchor thread! How does that happen! 😂😂
It is strange I agree...for example, I was having anchoring problems so I changed my Delta for a Rocna...job done, end of discussion. But tying up🥺😡 that is my bugbear...springs, rubber stretchy things, stretchy rope, leaded rope, cross ropes etc etc...it never ends....yet no one here talks about tying up🤷‍♂️🤔
But great thread👍...it’s boat ownership on a scale I can only dream of...now where is my lottery ticket 🥺

I just swapped my delta for an epsilon.
Only because the delta was undersized for coding. And it did let me down once.
I put that down to being undersized as its my third boat with a delta and I’ve always been happy with them.
Epsilon fits the Sealine pocket. The bigger delta has too long a shank. The epsilon is shorter.
Not tried it yet but I’m expecting good things.

There are some “specialist” websites on those sorts of subject you might want to try (so I’m told).…I don’t think it’s an appropriate discussion for a boat forum though?

A series of books too….something around the various shades of grey available I believe

good luck! 👍

I just use a chain counter as I can’t see the chain from the fly bridge so adding colours does not help much. I assume you can see the chain from yours so the inserts work.
I’ve found that those colored bits of plastic just add to the plastic in the oceans...because they don’t stay on the chain

I knew the only fans anchor cam page would get a mention at some point :)

In terms of seeing the anchor chain from the flybridge I THINK I can because of course this will be our first boat with bow seating. That said I always have a crew person on board for just such an occasion trained with military precision to perfectly count chain marks as they deploy. On recovery of the anchor they are fully qualified to use the deck hose to prevent non paying guests hitching a ride home with us and also to make sure the worst of the mud stays where it lives.

The bits that just wedge in the chain I agree, lets see how these ones fare. Coming in 2 halves and screwing together they should...... survive. I'll let you know in 4 - 6 months time.

Me too .Plus the crew ( wife usually) is stood over the open locker watching chain come in . She holds a remote .She also ties the anchor off when it’s in .This hasn’t been mentioned .We don’t run with the anchor unsecured. So you really need crew on the bow anyhow .

We have an anchor / chain wash too .The chain passes through a tube fitted with two jet wash nozzles to blast it as it comes in .
I like that .Looks mighty impressive recovering as a water fall gushes out from the bow pocket down the chain outside coming up .Knocks off weed etc so your locker is always chain only .

I did paint the last 5 M red ….so she can see when to slow down up haul .Save s me shouting from the helm after watching the counter number .

I once tried those chain markers H refers to …..they all eventually lost . At the lift out it’s minutes to paint the chain anyhow .

Thanks for that.
Saw that one on the starboard side and this on the port and thought it must be our man.

No, not out today. Getting more bits and pieces for the coding and back down Friday to do a few jobs.

As has been said we have a Bimini rather than a hard top ad we also have an open array radar being totally anal…. 😂
