New boat!

Hope it’s been well disinfected…….

funny enough….disinfection has been my task today! Macerator removed….another one wrecked…new one on the way and toilet compartment completely cleaned of black mould. Vacuum toilet tested and working well. Exciting times.

Boat detailer was down today. He is going to do the compounding and final polish. He did an hour today and brought it up far better than I have been. He was however using a rotary and pretty quick speeds too. That’s the difference…..he knows what he’s doing and when it’s getting too hot etc.. I will be doing the donkey work on the other side getting it ready for compound.

No more pictures of the hull until it’s finished. You can then all tell what a waste of time it has all been! ??

There was a strong northerly wind today, and boats were covered in Black dust , we googled what it could be and it kept saying, GOOGLE GOOGLE GOOGLE .

Update time!

Hull is going well. Much better with the right kit! Starboard side sanded at 400 and 600 grit in just 8 hours! 1000 and 2000 to go. No pictures until finished as it’s boring apparently.

many bits arrived so set to the front seating area.

New table and pedestal. Got the hole cutter out to drill through the deck for the base plate….Jesus Christ! This is what I was left with! Bit extreme for a deck ?

decided to use lift off hinges as used on fly cases etc. It’s worked really well. You slightly angle the seat downwards and drop the seat onto the hinges. Bring up level and kick out the legs and that’s it. The hinges are then locked in So the seat can‘t detach until you lower the angle again to remove.

Stainless shelf brackets used total inappropriately with a square rubber foot on the end. Works a treat! I’m not light and they feel very solid. Now off to the upholsterer!

when all is removed….just left with round hinge bars. No injuries possible ?

yes I know it needs a clean and yes there is a reason why 1 base has 5 drain holes and the other 6…..so I know which side is which!?

I'm disappointed not to have had a blow-by-blow account of the sanding, but the work you have done looks good.
I trust you cut away the core around the hole and back-filled with epoxy in the approved fashion.

of course…..or dropped the base plate in with sealant ???

The boat has no wood within its construction apparently. No idea what the core section is (of the core I cut out) but it’s not wood and it’s all pretty hard to cut

just for you……that’s at 600 grit ?
