Only a few days to go! The new boat arrives on Friday after a LOT of faffing about.
I cannot believe that the buying process has been so painful and so protracted, no thanks to the parties involved.
But we got there in the end. Now all I've got to do is learn to berth it - a bit scary going from a 24 to a 35 so I'm praying for a few calm wind-free days so I can get some practice in mid-week before there's an audience at the weekend to laugh at me.

She's having a few days out of the water to get some jobs done. Service for the big green noisy things is booked for the weekend, but I need to find a specialist (ideally Hampshire/West Sussex based) who can fit me a FM200 based fire extinguisher system to replace the halons. Can anyone recommend a company who can help with that?

Thanks,
Matt

It's twin on outdrives ....... and bowthruster.
I know, I know, everyone says it should be easier than a single engined 24 footer but I got very used to close quarter manoeuvering in that and it was so light you could fend off easily if you got it wrong........

Extinguishers - yep, 2 screws might hold them, but I think I need some professional advice on what capacity I need and where best to fit them.

Thanks George,
I did send Sea-Fire an email last week but they didn't bother replying...... I'll give them another chance with a call on Tuesday as they are very local to the boat.

Thanks. Useful site. Hard to guess the capacity required as I haven't got the boat yet so I can't measure the engine space but I reckon the space is about 5 cubic m (real rough guess).
I'll have to make some calls on Tuesday.

Very similar to the following? (same hull number, same engine numbers, maybe a different carpet...)

Dave,
Have you been following me? Or are you practising your Hercule Poirot routine? Yep, it's shortly to be appearing on a pontoon near you. Make sure you've got lots of fenders out !!!
(Actually it wasn't very hard to track down was it? There aren't many of them for sale (unless you're looking in Croatia).

...more a case of "follow the concidence".

Several Fridays ago, happened to be driving down the A3 to be almost sideswiped at the Devils punchbowl by a 4x4 pulling an S24 on a trailer. As I swerved to avoid, saw the name "Go for It" flash past.

Same weekend, happened to be browsing Essex boatyard site, was v.surprised to find the "boat of the week" was, you guessed.

Chances are that most people would buy their next boat from the place they've just traded it their old? one from, and you had mentioned the Fairline35 before, qed.

Anyway, the new boat looks fantastic. You just need a short ceremony pre-launch to make sure that the green god of diesel engines is on your side.

And you thought that just because I'd never bumped into you in the marina that you'd be safe on the road? Actually I'm not surprised, the driver left Sparkes at a rate of knots - I wonder how many other people he ran off the road on the way to Essex?

Have had the big green things thoroughly inspected prior to purchase - they do need a service and there are a couple of bits that need replacing but my mechanic is doing all that at the weekend. The prayer ceremony to the Swedish God of Bottomless Pits will become a daily ritual!

She went like stink on the sea trial - 37 knots on the GPS. Cruising at 3000 RPM she was doing an easy 27 kts. Mechanic reckoned they were in pretty good order, given that they were desperate for a service and hadn't been run for months.

Just trying to decide if I need to bother re-antifouling. She was done in Feb but hasn't been back in the water since so the popular theory is that the paint may be "tired". Of course the weather may make my mind up for me.......
