I've taken the plunge & am going to order a new beta 13.5. On my old sabb the prop was left hand so a new prop will be needed. Any idea of size, pitch etc, the prop shaft is 25mm, also what kind of throttle/gear lever, single or double.
Cheers & gone

I bought one for my previous boat in 2000. The gear and throttle were combined on a single lever as my previous set up was, normal for am yacht.

Great engine.

Steve,

Check with Beta - when I got my Kubota based engine, the gearbox I ended up with could be run either forward or backwards, requiring an oil cooler if the latter to keep warranty valid.

Control wise, unless the Beta comes with a new one, why not retain the existing? I kept my dual lever Morse system from the old Kubota for my new one.

Prop wise, PM me with LWL, waterline beam, hull draft, keel draft, displacement, maximum prop diameter, and gearbox ratio, and I'll run it thru some software I've got. Also how much power was the Saab, gear ratio, and what prop did it have on it?

Thanks rick, i've got the prop size from paul Bell at first marine prop & a pair of secondhand morse controls, the set up on the sabb was a small throttle lever attatched to the gear stick, so no go there thanks anyway.
cheers
