New Battery for McMurdo Rescue EPIRB Essex/Suffolk

Hi All,
I need to replace the battery in my McMurdo Rescue 406 EPIRB.
I am in Manningtree on the Essex/Suffolk borders.
Any idea who does the replacement and the cost?

It seems that I can buy a new Kannard Solo Personal Location Beacon (406/121) with Gps for £209 which would seem safer in that I would carry it in my oily jacket.

Any thoughts or advice please guys?

Interesting about the PLB. are they as good?

When we needed the battery replaced on our EPIRB we sent it directly to McMurdo in Portsmouth. I seem to remember it was not too expensive and very quick.

I had mine done at SARTECH in Redhill I think.

Did it while I went shopping took about 1 hour and cheaper than McMurdo and better service IMHO.

Be prepared for a shock. I have a Tron which is now well past its expiry date. The best price for a battery I could find was £148. For £200 I can get a McMurdo PLB with GPS.
