Can't be *that* cold - the lake isn't even frozen.

-18C here in NJ last weekend, -40C at my sisters place in Ontario, -54C in Winnepeg, or something daft like that.

My dad did consulting work on the power distribution for the pumping stations on the Alaska pipeline in the 70's. He used to drive around in a truck on the tundra checking the transmission lines for flashover when it was below -100F with the windchill. Trucks ran 24hours a day 'cos if they stopped they couldn't start them again.

Now that's cold...

a very similar photo made our news , the day it was 37*C and I must admit the 3rd day in a row that it didn't get below 25*C at night....

Pretty had for those of us who have never seen snow to visualise the weight of ice on the yachts...
Think I'l stick to sailing in OZ .
