I'm going to install a chart plotter system on my boat and am considering a Seiwa 'black box' plotter with 12V PC monitor below and a Seiwa slave plotter in the cockpit. Does anybody have any experience with the Seiwa plotters ? They seem reasonably priced and I dont want to spend too much. I also want AIS and radar compatibility for the future and preferably networked multifunctional displays below and on deck. Are there any other recommended systems that would fit the bill without spending extreme amounts on a Raymarine or Furuno system?

Maybe have a look for a garmin, how much are you looking to spend? I find Garmin to be well priced for what they are, they have the gpsmap 5008 + 12 that are touch screen now, maybe expensive for what your looking for though. Have a look at the GPSMAP 4008
