This boat, based on a Shetland Yole figured in CB about six years ago, and was available in kit form from a boatyard near St Malo. I bought one and built it -nice boat. Did anyone else?
Good to hear from you. I've got two pairs of oars which were supplied with the kit. They are about 2.5 m long, with narrow blades and quite fat towards the inboard end. I can post a picture, if you like.
I've never been sure about the mainsheet. Do you know the proper way to rig this? Do you swap it over on every tack or is there some way to make it fixed without the tiller getting in the way?
I've got the model with the small jib and main, by the way.
I have the same oars you describe. It seems quite heavy, in particular for youngsters to oar. I'm trying to study a transposition of Bantry yole's oars to the Ness one.
I don't know the proper way to rig the mainsheet, but I swap it on every tack ; I know a breton way of sailing which consist of no swapping but I don't know how they fix the rope.
I sail a yole mesuring 7 meters with 2 masts.
