Thinking of getting a wind vane for my Albin Vega.Looking on the net they all seem verymuch the same....this one seems to be cheaper any thoughts or hands on expierience, thanks.

My chum Seajet advocates a piece of ribbon.
And there was a jolly large yacht in the marina last time, displaying the very same!

Navik (Plastimo, no longer manufactured) apparently works well with the Vega, I have one but not fitted it yet, bought second hand for £400, they come up every now & then on ebay...

I have used one a little. They are strong, well made and they work. They can be taken off (and stolen as well, I guess) very easily. They are compact to store.
With the Vega you might look at the Pacific Light which will save you a few quid and it is a couple of kilo lighter than the Neptune.
The Sea Feather is worth looking at, I have an old mag that says they are about £1500 but they have probably gone up by now.

thanks to all,The sea feather is now nearly two grand but includes the man fixing on the boat. The big draw back is the price so I am going to wait and see if something turns up.

+1

Our Navik has now sailed our Vega several thousand miles, last time being back across the Sea of the Hebrides from Vatersay last Tuesday. It is a lot tougher than it looks.
