Neg isolator switch

OK got to the bottom of it .
Battery 1 ve- has been put on the top of the isolation switch and battery 2ve- was on the bottom of the switch , so no matter where the switch was there was going to be a Neg connection.
So now both batteries cables are on the top and when the Isolate switch is off most equipment is off.
I say most because there still some wires on the same terminals as the batteries cable ,
One the radio , another is the shore power battery charge and a third which I can't trace at the moment .
would it be best to move everything to the other side of the switch, just leaving the two batteries cables and the shore batteries charger?
I have the charger and solar going to the battery side of + house and -ve.

Thanks although unless I'm reading it wrong it seen to show the Neg going to the pos switch and the Pos going to the Neg switch , confusing.
Although the battery poles look opposite, the reality is that the text is correct on switches, the pos and neg bars and everywhere else.

Think I'll update the schematics for future reference.

Yes, the neg switch isolates everything, at least it should.

You mentioned a 50mm cable connecting the two positive switches, i assume this is connected to a 4th switch ?

If that's the case, i'd make sure it connects to the load side of the switches, not the battery side. Using the load side of the switches means you can isolate a faulty battery/bank and use the good one to power everything to get you home.
Paul there no 4th switch , the 50mm sq cable is connected on the pos switches to the terminals on the opposite side to where the batteries cables are on .
Ps enrolling in a class for drawing :)

That's a stupid idea Vic. It means that all batteries are in parallel. I would remove it, without doubt.

What you could then do (if you want) is to remove all cables from the negative switch and connect them together, then connect a short positive cable from the load side of each positive switch to the negative switch. Paint the switch handle yellow, or something, and label it as "emergency only" (or similar).

Paul I don't know who wired it in this way , I just know who ever did the Neg side totally mess it up , at a guess maybe a second battery was adder and the owner at the time wired it up.

NOW going back to the Pos switching I'm a bit lost , surly both batteries are only in Parallel only if both switched are on at the same time?
We use them like the good old days with the 1 both 2 .
So we have them both on to start and while the engine running then turn the starter battery off .
I know if the day come that we forget and at the same time we flatting both batteries we in a mess .
Am I correct or am I missing something ?

Come winter I be building another lithium bank.

Paul, a reminder as I have posted this before. Beneteau's are factory wired with two interconnected positive battery switches thus behaving the same as a 1-2-both switch, plus a negative isolator. Many of us replace the link with a charge distribution system such as a VCR.

Thanks for the reminder, i'd forgotten that. Good idea to replace the link (y)

Yes only in parallel if both switches turned on. Still a daft idea, IMO ;)

On mine the dealer had put the "both" link on the wrong side. The previous owner could never figure out why the start battery was always flat when the service one was. I will dig out the original bene wiring diag in a min
