Hi All,

It's time to set up a bimini for my trapper sailing boat.

Are there any manufacturers which make standard ones for sailing boats or is it more of a tailor made job?

Thanks
Tyrone

Usually these things are taylor made. Find a good cover/sailmaker. Ask around and have a look at other similar sized boats. There is more than one way to make a bimini and if you have an idea of what you want, it will help when you talk to the cover maker.

Bimini's with frames are not cheap by the way!

When I moved my boat to Greece I did a bit of Googling and eventually I bought an off-the-shelf one from the US by mailorder. It looked like a bargin (even after import duty) but the frame is weak (aluminium) and the cover looks like Nora Batties stockings - it simply doesnt fit and I'm now saving up for a proper job.
If you are in Malta I guess you still get the meltemi wind so you will need something that is very robust but can stay up all day whilst sailing. My advice is to get a decent custom job with a good quality stainless steel frame.
