Need help identifying a bit of brass hardware

Hi,

Have attached a picture of a bit of brass I rescued off an old wreck a few years back. Anyways I have no idea what it would be called or what it would be used for. Obviously I'd like to know as I'd like to sell it as a useful bit of hardware rather than weigh it in at the scrappy.

Any help would be much appreciated

Part of a roller reefing gear and gooseneck from a boom. Probably bronze rather than brass.
Many are still in use but you only have part of the set in the picture.

Looks like the boom part of a gooseneck for a roller reefing boom.

The eye at the far right attaches to a fitting on the mast. The (wooden) boom goes between the jaws on the left. There should be a worm gear to rotate the boom. It looks like the actuating handle has broken off.

Ignore them, its a left handed trunion bush that connects to a knurled barrel reamer used for ensuring egagement with a grib thribley. Seen one on here before.

How do you know it's left handed?

It is one of these, but for a wooden boom.

Its upside down and the part that goes on the mast is missing.

It is seized but its now sat in a bucket of oil. I reckoned there was a movement inside for rolling something but clearly I've not got it moving yet. Brass/bronze/gunmetal I'm not too fussed! Would rather get it working than scrap it (£4.19 at todays scrap prices! whoah). It came off an early sixties ply/glass yacht.

Anyhows, all ideas welcome

Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but it will be a worm gear inside so it's the small crank-handle-connector part you want to turn, not the big two-legged end.

How do you know it's left handed?

if it were righthanded it would be a doubrey, not a trunnion bush thingy. Innit.
