Need Advice re Boat Disposal Please?

Even a sad Evasion has got to be worth £5-6k, there were a couple of fairly tired ones sold in the UK shortly before the lurgy arrived in the £12-15k bracket. Broker is taking the urine.

I would stick it on LeBonCoin, the free sale site. Gets a lot of stuff shifted and is quick. I sold a camper recently on there for a non internet savvy widow. Over 40 inquirys. You can put up three photos for free, after that and to keep it near the top of listings, there are small charges.
There is a dedicated marine section, with boats at all sizes and prices.

As of today, the restrictions on daytime movement are off, so likely people will start to get interested in activaties like sailing.

Hello folks and apologies for delay with my replies but I’m afraid my health has seriously declined. To be honest, this is now my main concern and if I could give this boat away I would happily do so just for peace of mind and to have no mill stones for my family to deal with.

For anyone interested, the so called broker and yard is indeed as mentioned above, ‘Comptoir Nautique’ in La Roche Bernard who now own the two yards on both sides of the river. I doubt they could have been more unhelpful and even obstructive if they tried.

They have not only done nothing to help sell the boat, they have deterred two separate people I asked to make enquiries. And this was done with knowledge of my current medical condition.

I understand the boat has deteriorated badly over the last 3 years and TBH it’s probably not worth anything. I now have someone semi local trying to make enquiries about disposal of the boat. Heaven only knows how much they’ll sting me for that.

Please know that I am extremely grateful for all the feedback from all of you.

Kind Regards

Definitely try not to stress about it. You’ve continued the agreement for some time, showing good faith. They have the boat as their collateral if the agreement goes south. I couldn’t see how they could ask for more (or at least realistically pursue anyone over here over it).

Regardless of the condition, I don’t believe it has no value. Or if it really has deteriorated, then couldn’t a friendly local surveyor say so for you - then you could offer it on Lloyds Open Form salvage?! (Someone will soon correct my naivety over this, I’m sure! - but it’s the principle I’m stressing)

One way or another, it shouldn’t require recycling. Far worse boats are changing hands right now.

If you want to dispose of it ASAP, get some photos taken (again, pay a surveyor if you really need - or maybe a local forumite could help?) and list it for sale ‘as is, where is’ etc. - as I suggested previously.

Once a buyer has gained access and dealt with the yard, you can arrange for them to have the bill of sale etc. in exchange for cleared funds. Again, a trusted local representative would help here. But with some creativity and due diligence on both sides, it should still be possible without.

I still say: eBay
Reckon it’d be ‘sold’ in a couple of weeks (auction) and off your hands within a month. Two if the first deal goes south.

Best way, IMHO
