Cool, good to know.
My idea was more like being able to give a signal directly to the steering relais or give the steering unit a wrong compass signal. This way it would be possible with a bit of DIY to fit any digital remote control. I just have to know where my connection points would be. I've already studied the wiring diagram and figured that pin 12 and 13 must be the one but I didnt come up with an elegant solution yet :)

I think sending a wrong compass signal might be challenging. Also intercepting the selsyn output would need some maths. An elegant solution? Something that can remoting mechanically rotate the course setting knob to the new course you require?

Good morning All.
I have an Oyster 46 from 1981 which I am refitting in Viareggio. I have decided to remove the old Neco Auto pilot and therefore have a lot of spares which could be useful to someone refitting their system. Please PM me if this could be of interest to you.

The Neco Drive cannot be driven like a reversing motor. Inside it does not have permanent magnets but two coils (one "shunt" and one "series") that need to be fed with fixed polarity. The change of turning direction is accomplished by reversing the polarity of the "armature" only. You can drive the Neco motor with any modern autopilot that is able to drive "solenoid" valves but you have to keep the existing relays and fit a new third relay to control the clutch and the "shunt" coil. The changes can be made by anybody with a little DIY ability and will cost just the price of the third relay: less than £5.
Whoever needs further directions is invited to PM me and I will be glad to help.
Daniel

ps: angelsson, I realized we are already in touch...
Hi guys,

Can somebody send me
Yes I have a copy of Daniele's tests for the Neco. PM me an email address and I'll forward it. I have notes of adapting the Drive Unit to 'mate' with an Onwa Auto Pilot. The procedure will probably explain how you can 'mate' a pypilot. All the Neco Drive Unit wants is some commands. A basic relay will be needed in the Neco (simples)
Hi, could you please send me Daniel's test for the NECO? Thanks :D
