Yes folks it's a fishing reel attached to the pushpit! What a great idea... No more tangled mackerel lines in the cockpit, for me or you! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Look at the shadow in the water, tony was trying to save money by getting a distorted back stay at the jumble /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Goodness, Why didn't I think of that.

I put up with a reel on a two foot broom handle.

Never caught a lot on it I have to say, odd mackeral or two. Assume we are always going too fast (5+ knots)

Did get a couple of superb bites whilst going around the inner passage at Land End. But its usual anglers tale....

they got away..

Even better , how about a short piece of dowl with the reel that slots into where the ensign goes? Saves wrecking a good reel.

Well, it's got to be better than the guy I saw in a canoe with a line attached to 6 mackeral feathers and tied around his NECK on the West Coast of Scotland!!

If that is your backstay in the photo, then it's a good idea to be able to catch fish efficiently, for when you run out of food and are drifting around after being dismasted!
