No matter how well ventilated the fact is that a boat sits on water, meaning a damp atmosphere, so we used to use a dehumidifier and enjoyed arriving on board to find bone dry bedding. After 30 years of damp bedding getting a dehumidifier was a wonderful luxury. Happily we never experienced a fire like the op.
Now we're permanently ashore and travel with a well ventilated caravan, not sitting on water it stays dry without a dehumidifier.
