Couldnt afford the props so hopeing attached Volvo plakky bags will still give me 30 knots /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

she looks great,shame about the props though, I don't like to dishearten you Paul, but I think you're being a tad optimistic about your new props performance /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
SWMBO tried 2 rolls of "Andrex" last season--the softness did create alot of cavitation at high speed and sadly the puppy got liquidised off Gilkicker so hoping these will do the trick. If not I might try these 4 funny stainless steel thingys I have in the garage.

Thanks Roger. Well I`m a vain B`stard when it comes to boats. I know white antifoul isnt normally as good at keeping the bugs at bay but what the hell!!

She does look rather fine now, for sure.

Re cleaning up the outdrive legs, did you just use a pressure washer, or did it involves a lot of very detailed scrubbing? I suspect the latter.....

I read somewhere a long time ago (I think it was in an American boaty magazine before green issues became popular) of one recommendation to reduce fouling on outdrive legs - they suggested putting a very stout plastic bag around each leg and putting some bleach into the water to kill off aspiring growth.

However I am thinking it would be difficult to get a good seal of the bags around the legs, hence the bleach would dissipate slowly, and become a pollutant.

And of course it would pollute when the bags are removed prior (I hope!) to starting up the engines.

I am just sitting on the fence here - I dont have a mobo, am just interested in all types of boats.

Has anyone ever tried this method of reducing fouling on outdrive legs, or have you other tried and proven methods?
Does special anti-fouling paint for aluminium work well on these legs?

This is not a troll, just some genuine questions.
 
Does SS make a noticable difference Paul? Just wondering about my two DP's??

I had heard that Ali bends if dinked and therefore acts as a "gearbox saver" and that SS is that much harder and therefore riskier on the shafts, bearings and gears. All that said, there ain't many rocks around Porthmadog...just sand...mountains of sand.

Those with long memories on this forum may have some reply on rocks / Porthmadog / Pwllheli. I'm expecting it... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
Think I saw her Sunday. Went to see the Askham Bullit ( no thanks - lots & lots of work below waterline needed)

Popped into the Mermaid - mistake - they had Mulled Wine - slept all the way home
