Nearly Done!

You'll be fine as long as they are Marks and Spencers quality bags. The cheap Tesco ones don't work so well.

They are Volvo Penta bags (nose in the air)

Great finish. What will it look like when the white errodes and the blue shows through? Did you have to take the blue off first? Dave.

Ive found its as hard as a rock Dave. It doesnt erode even on my last boat which had a cruising speed of 32kts

Thanks for all the kind comments chaps ( and chapesses).
Will certainly try the chiil pepper idea next year Dave. SWMBO keeps a good stock.

Would have done if I'd known. I was changing a cutlas bearing over in the corner nearest the water.

Does SS make a noticable difference Paul? Just wondering about my two DP's??

I had heard that Ali bends if dinked and therefore acts as a "gearbox saver" and that SS is that much harder and therefore riskier on the shafts, bearings and gears. All that said, there ain't many rocks around Porthmadog...just sand...mountains of sand.

S/S sure last alot longer Dave. The legs have a "shear collar" between the middle and lower units that are designed to break rather like a shear pin on an outboard to protect the gearbox. I found a set of ally props do around 3 seasons before they wear thin and burn at the base of the blades. The S/S ones cost around double but there is no wear to speak of and they clean up nice and shiny. The down side is that I eat anodes for England. On the "after" pic you will see I have fitted anodes to the top of the cavitation plate. This helps alot and makes the ring anodes last just about a season.

Those with long memories on this forum may have some reply on rocks / Porthmadog / Pwllheli. I'm expecting it... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
