Navtex-worth having?

I've cruised the same area with & without. Fitted one for the first time last season (ex demo kit via eBay!) & found it very useful, especially for getting updates whilst on longer passages & when overseas/without web access for up to date local forecasts. Oostende Radio weather updates very reassuring when on passage home in rough weather last time!

I use a GPRS connected PDA instead and access info from the MCA and BBC PDA service. Also useful for emial onboard - oh and it can call people!

Anyone have any comments on PDAs v NAVTEXT? One thing I'm not sure about is picking up navigational warning that are normally on the end of the VHF broadcast....

Don't know about that.... but I do have a compact flash GSM/GPRS card and software for a PDA that I don't use, and would sell if anyone is interested.... pm with offers....

I sometimes use wap.frisnit.com to get NAVTEX messages on my old mobile - nothing as fancy as a PDA but does the job!
