I have a Navtec hydaulic backstay, it was fine throughout the first 12 years of my ownership but 5 years ago when the rig was out for a major refit the rigger took it ypon himself to get the cyinder 'serviced'. Over the last couple of years a small leak - in fact more of a weep, has developed around the top seal on the the rod connecting to the backstay causing it to very slowly lose pressure over a few days.
I spoke to a rigging company and learned that the cylinder ( a mark 7, the square body one) is of course obsolete and no new correct seals are available from Navtec.
There have been a couple of posts here over the past couple of years and I just wondered if anyone has had any experience of, or could suggest a specalist general hydaulic company on the south caost worth trying ?
I'm a bit nervous about dismantling it and maybe ruining the existing seals but I'd like it fixed if possible, although I can live with it if it doesn't get worse as I don't race now

Any hydraulics shop will be able to replace seals, they're seldom brand specific
That's what I hope ! I should thank a member here - goeasy123 who had the same issues some time ago and has kindly sent me the Navtec service manual and parts list. I'll remove the ram and take it to my local hydaulics hotshot with the manual and parts list and see what they can do
Thanks to all for responses
