I need charts (of south coast) and a manual for this model can anyboby assist me in my quest .
Thanks in anticipation
Rob

Are these two seperate requests? I thought the Navstar was for the now defunct Decca system? If you still know somewhere you can use it I might still have manuals for it.

The 2000p is being used with a garmin GPS at present, but I have no charts of the south coast or a proper manual. any help aquiring these would be gratefully received.

I have now aquired both items as initially requested. if anyone is in a position where they need help finding similar items for the Navstar 2000P I am your man

NAVSTAR 2000D

So is the 2000d now useless? - I ask cos a friend up the quay bought himself a cruiser this year and has just fitted all the "toys" that came with it, including a Navstar d Navigator 2000 (grey box, green led display top left). We had a play with it, but all we can make it do is bleep loudly...

I was going to ask if anyone knew where I could get a manual, but if it is now defunct...

Cheers

Re: NAVSTAR 2000D

Thanks - I'll break it to him gently...

Though I suppose he could keep it on as a talking point when showing off his boat ("...and this is the machine that goes beep!")

Cheers

Re: NAVSTAR 2000D

He could take it home, give it 12volts, and use it to calculate course and distances between waypoints. It was useful for this when Decca was alive.

A toy to play with over the dark winter months making up course cards for contingency use - i.e. when the GPS goes t1t'5 up.

I still use mine for this purpose.

regards,
Philip

Re: NAVSTAR 2000D

if you use a calculator with polar to rectangular coords, it will do the same thing for you, a lot quicker.

Re: NAVSTAR 2000D

I've got an all-singing-all-dancing Casio fx-300W. Tell me how to do it (if this calc will do it) - if not on the forum, then by PM.

I just found it convenient to use the 2000D when I had it home in the winter. But if I can do it on the Casio, I'll forget about the 2000D - and maybe donate it to the maritime section of the local museum.

regards,
Philip
