I can't find an installation guide to the Navman 7200 VHF; I have a new boat and want to flush mount it this time. Anyone know how this is done or where I can find them online?
Thanks but I have that; what I am unsure about is how I install the set in the instrument panel (previously I used the bracket), how big a hole to make etc. I dont have the radio at home and as the Simrad radio I removed was bigger I need to make a cover to fit the Navman. I thought I would find this online and was hoping to do this job tomorrow (Sunday). Did the radio come with a set of installation instructions on paper?
The radio will have come with 4 items required for flushmounting. 2 round head bolts that thread into each side of the unit (the same thread as the thumbscrews on the mounting bracket) and 2 angled pieces of plastic with bolts attached so that when the angle piece is screwed into the navman then the bolts in the plastic can be screwed and tightened on the inside of the flush mount panel. As for the size of hole - try using a measuring tape around the inside of the navman (simple really). We used a jigsaw and power file for finishing to make the hole required for mounting our 7100 ( hole was about 52mmx146mm with 2 ears at each end).
Thanks; I have all the original bits then. My problem is the radio and bits are in Stavanger and me and my workshop live in Trondheim. I was hoping to make a cover for the existing (too big) hole which will take the 7200. I can measure the unit next weekend or pop in the dealers; Navman are really good but I expected a template somewhere...
My apologies and thanks for your help; after writing the last reply I went back to navman.com and discovered the "Template" menu in the downloads section. The problem is all the 7XXX series use the same and of course I was searching for "7200" and not "7XXX". Thanks again.
Be careful about using templates as I have found some that have been photocopied and are stretched or just overall too big. It's as easy just to measure, scribe the surface and cut.
