As I understand it, people are having problems getting Navionics App to work on nexus 7 android devices,
Here is a fix although not tried by myself, I'm on iPad....

For those of you who own a Nexus 7 tablet and are frustrated with the fact that Navionics is not certified to run on it, here is a fix. For this, you will need an Android device that is compatible with Navionics (I used my phone) in addition to the Nexus 7. You also need a WIFI capable laptop and a router where all devices share the same network.

1. Download and install AirDroid on BOTH Android devices.

2. Download and install Navionics on the compatible Android device.

3. On the compatible Android device, open the AirDroid app. Follow the instructions on and use your laptop's browser to access your Android device. Copy the Navionics app to your desktop. The name of the file is USA.apk.

4. Log off your Android device and close your browser window.

5. Open the AirDroid app on your Nexus 7. Use the browser on your PC to access your device.

6. Copy the USA.apk file to the apps folder on your Nexus 7.

7. Follow the instructions on your Nexus 7 screen to finish the installation on the device.

I did this a few weeks ago and wanted to give it a chance to see how it performs before I shared the information here. It has worked flawlessly and I have encountered zero problems.

This was lifted from another forum.

looks to me as if both approaches are unnecessary. On the Navionics compatibility guide tonight, they have dropped the ski maps only bit against the Nexus 7 suggesting that the marine charting software is now approved for download and use on the tablet.

Still not showing in the market for me although Africa/Asia does. Ski maps are available too

I've tried the method above, it works briefly and then force closes

From a Nexus 7 you can certainly see Navionics UK and Holland now in the Play Store. It's £48, though, so I haven't downloaded it.

I'm actually using Memory Map on the Nexus - the UK and Ireland charts were about £25. It works OK provided you have preloaded the required charts. There appears to be no simple way to download all the charts you need direct to the Nexus in one go - you have to do it chart by chart which is tedious. You can connect to a PC that has already preloaded them and file copy them across, though.

Still not showing up for me, not the uk/holland one anyhoo

happy days, I'll be buying it for sure when I get home

is the hd version worth buying?

would prefer the 10 inch nexus but that isnt compatible. how much use is the 7 inch for day to day work at home? screen big enough to do mails and browse or is it, like smartphones, capable in a technical sense but not much cop in real use.

it's pretty good actually, nice high resolution and easy size to type on.

you can hold it and type with both thumbs pretty easily.

the email app is slightly different from phones and gives you'panes' to work with.

I still use a laptop for most things but it's very useable with good battery life.

all in all a very good user experience and I'm happy with it, especially for the price

I've just bought it this evening... worked for me.

Most pricey app i've ever bought, by a country mile!

Yep, same here. Just downloaded Navionics Europe HD (which I'd already bought) and it's it's happy to sell me UK HD too for £48.64. I already have that in another version though so I'll pass on that. At £48.64 there are other options that don't seem to suffer Navionics inability to understand compatibility and versioning either.

Still can't do a direct download to a Nexus 7 as the Play store says it is not compatiable... Possibly they will catch up in a few days time :-(

Exactly what you'd expect really - halfway between the two. Fine for text in emails and stuff that has an adjustable font size for my aging eyes but not as good as a 10" screen for web pages and emails with a load of graphics. Perfectly usable but you find yourself zooming and scrolling a fair bit more than on a 10" screen. In a different class to even the 4.7" and 5" screens I have on my phones though. With my eyes it's absolutely great as a plotter as long as I'm within a few feet of it. I can't believe that Navionics haven't made the Nexus 10 compatible though - that's just sheer incompetence. If it runs on the 7 it will run on the 10 - the only testing that's needed is to that the different interface on the 7 works - the 10 has a standard tablet interface.

Yes - they withdraw it, then bring in a new version that you have to pay again for and so on. Navionics really are a shower but AFAIK they are the only outfit doing a proper vector planning app, the others being raster.

The UK & Holland product is no longer supported and isn't for sale.

The HD version of UK & Holland is available for Nexus 7. I can see it in PlayStore and causeway has just downloaded it. It costs £48 though.

Personally I prefer raster charts (did all my training, as did most of us, I suspect, on Admiralty raster charts and have stuck with them) so Maptech, or, more recently, Memory Map stuff suits me and works well on the Nexus, apart from chart preloading, as noted earlier. Their UK charts (now 2013) are £25. They allow loading on 2 machines and migration of the licence to a new platform when required.
