For the love of god can someone please point me to a 'how to' guide to using Navionics on a ipad/iphone. Been using it for three years now and still haven't cracked it. Today on boat, bimbling around on the North sea, I just couldn't get it to tell me my speed over ground. The day before when I picked a point on chart and hit the "boat to here" button, I could not get the damn thing to tell me how far I was from that point. Is 'distance to destination' too much to ask? Does your Navionics tell you that?

The auto routr function will tell you everything you need to know. However, once you've tapped "boat to here" you have to tap the destination icon and highlight it to get all the data screens to show the correct info.

If it's not showing SOG at all times it sounds as if your location/GPS function is turned off or not operating. I assume that you have a 3G/LTE enabled i-thingy?

Cheers for that Richard, will try it. I'm using nav on Iphone 6 - it has a gps. The mystifying thing is that it sometimes displays SOG, but not always.
Im pretty much sold on the idea of a proper chartplotter at the mo, so it might not be a big problem for much longer, but I do find it strange that Navionics have never produced a user guide.

Most software outfits seem to think that their products are so intuitive that you can just use them without a manual. This may be true if you are 14 and happy to fiddle about through every possibility but I expect many older folks give up or use a small fraction of the possibilities. I nearly always go through u tube videos on the pc to learn how to use these items and that's how I have learned to use navionics on iPad.
Another problem is the iPad and iPhone screen not recognising when I am jabbing, pressing and rubbing the screen to get a response. I think this must be static or something. Other than unplugging and switching off I can't seem to stop this happening about once a fortnight. Any ideas welcome
