Good luck.....if a backup then it will work fine on a phone. I am sure someone would be able to tell you how to tether your phone to your current non WiFi iPad for a better view! However if you are going to use as I did ie as primary system then you will need to bite the proverbial bullet methinks! But as you said, probably a lot cheaper than fixing the old system and if of any comfort think of all the other things you can do on a brand new WiFi enabled fancy iPad.......Blimey it over a Month since I reported back on this Thread!

A remote receiver is the answer they say
Trouble is they are a few quid
This is only a back up as I mentioned
