Nasa wind instrument

Hi. Does anyone know how to wire up a nasa wind instrumen?. - I have to join 2 cables - the one from the mast joins the one from the instrument

There are lots of different colours - what goes where??!! There are 5 wires on each cable.

I contacted nasa but they say the grey cable is not theirs and they don't recognise it

You will have to trace the wires back to the instrument to work out which color is going to which connection.

I take it I would need access to the masthead as well to see where the corresponding wires go?

Which is the original nasa cable? It’s the non-original that would need tracing back.

Stolen from an old thread - may help. It's a start anyway. You'll probably still need to access the masthead though as it looks like someone has used non nasa standard colour coding for the extension cable.


"Screen is negative - use for neg probe
Red is power supply and should show 5v
Black varies between 1v and 4v
Blue varies between 1v and 4v
White pulses, but you won't be able to read anything on a meter. "
