My Target depth sounder is flickering from number to number too quickly, (which seems like an electrical spike, but this is when the motor is off) sometimes it switches off except for the E symbol.
I recently changed the offset, can this be the problem? Any ideas?

My Target sounder did similar things when in shallow/muddy/disturbed water. I had some success with playing with the gain. not sure that the offset would affect it but, hey, try changing it.

I know this is stating the obvious but have you checked:

1. The wiring,
2. The transducer installation - maybe there is a problem with the oil bath
3. Experiment with the settings in shallow and in deeper water as the former can affect it.

No solutions but I hope these suggestions help.

My Nasa Cruiser does the same.
Been told that it might be interference from other power cables, not just the engine. I was silly enough to route it with the power suply for the cabine and bow nav lights. It looks very nice and tidy with cable ties all along the way (lol). But it does not work.
Gonna reroute it on the other side, on its own.
But boat is ashore. Other more important jobs to do now.
Let us know how you got on.
Good luck.

Mine works great until I run the engine on test alongside. The tubulence local to the boat causes just your problem. If yours is doing this all the time try the transducer in another place, perhaps its too near a keel or other turbulent item

Mine does the same, with the engine on, it's def turbulance, I get crazy readings motoring wind over tide.

yup ours did the same but not any more! Why/how. Well it was a matter of taking it out and then the most important part. When putting it back in just place it over the hole and let it drop by its own weight, a very gentle push (one finger) untill it stops then gently push untill it will not go any more, worked for us. Good luck
