I have a Narwahl inflatable that needs a new floor as the existing slatted one seeps water at an alarming rate, the rest of the boat is in good condition and it would be a shame to dump it,can anyone suggest a suitable material to replace the existing floor with?

Have a care. I also had an old but "good" Narwhale inflatable, No sign of problems till entire seam let go down one side, luckily when empty tied along side, just glad engine not attached at time. Cheers, Mick.

yep, same with mine. seams let go one after the other.

got in touch with the dealer/repairer in hamble i think, they told me that the seamks do go, when it happens it usually means that the thing has had it's life, and if i took it in they'd probably condem it.

i did try to patch it with some hypalon, but alas didn't work very well.

Ditto ......

I had a couple of pin-hole leaks on a seam and pumped it up in garden to check one-day. I had a bottle of 'tube-sealant' - specially designed for pouring in via the valves and swill around to seal it. Poured it in after checking. Left the thing inflated as detailed.

Sitting in dining room looking at my dinghy on the lawn ....... suddenly it just literally fell apart !!!! Went down in about 30 secs flat !!!!!

Took it to a dinghy service. Guy 'unstuck rest of seams' and checked it out. The 'gunk' I used was ok .... not the problem, as he reckoned - Narwhal on the older ones are poor on the adhesive seams and what happened to me was only speeded up by the 'gunk' - it would have happened about then anyway and I was lucky it was in the garden !

So I would have it checked by a dinghy service before spending out on floors etc.

If you really want to do it ....... my Avon is a patchwork quilt of repairs on the floor using strong rubber contact adhesive and rubber patches as supplied in the dinghy pack.
