Someone will surely correct me if I am wrong but if the craft you are referring to is the GRP Nantucket Clipper of 1970s vintage then I am fairly sure that the hull lines (excluding the extremities) are those of the Maurice Griffiths designed Finesse 28. In other words it is a 28ft boat. I believe they were built by Philip & Son at Dartmouth.

Re: Nantucket Clipper?

Designed by Alan Buchanan in the seventies and robustly built by Offshore Yachts.
31' overall but clipper bow and semi counter stern mean lots of overhang so waterline length is only 21', but still quite quick due to sweet lines.
My late father had one many years ago which salied well particularly in heavy weather under mizzen and jib. Only vice was poor directional stabilty downwind in a blow. He fitted a skeg and replaced the semi balanced rudder with a conventinal skeg mounted job and this much improved things.
Good solid boat that will look after you.
Not to be confused with the Atlantic clipper which was built by Philip and Sons of Dartmouth and shares the same Maurice Griffiths designed centreplate hull as the Barbican 33.

hope this helps regards Paul Stevens.

Sailor man and paul stevens are correct, built by offshore yachts who also built the halcyons amongst others, and designed by Alan Buchanan. Bit of a dog to sail I'm afraid, nic named by a friend of mine who owned one as , 'The Nantucet Bucket' !!

To my recollection the Nantucket 33 was designed in the early 1980's by Peter Cole & Associates in Austrailia and they were actually built in Hong Kong (circa 1984). The actual name of the boat was a Nantucket Island 33. It is a center cockpit boat with a full keel, a beam of 11' 1" and a displacement of 12,700 lbs. Peter Cole actually designed the 33 ft. version as well as a 38 ft. version. A friend of mine owns a Nantucket Island 33.
