Thought I'd share this one to the forum, a good friend of mine has recently bought a new motor boat with a Nanni diesel fitted and the manufacturers has given him a 3 year warrantee with regard to the engine and a 12month warrantee on the hull etc. Good he thought paid his money and has used the boat now for the first year and had difficulties in starting when hot, if he starts from cold the engine will fire up and will run well (as it has all the time), but after a good run and the engine is warmed up, if he stops it it will not start (engine turns over very slowly as if the battery is faulty, or starter at fault some how), he has to wait maybe an hour or so before the engine will turn over properly to start. The engine runs well its just the starting.

No problem as its under warrantee, well maybe there is as the service agents infromed him when he took it to them to sort out.
If they find the problem 'Nanni' will reimburse them for the part and labour but, if they cant find the fault at first (as is the case on every fault) they will not pay them for any labour costs to discover the fault.

Is this normal practice or is the service agent/Nanni at fault.

He feels agrieved as the servicing has been kept up to date at considerable cost to him with the belief that any problems would be sorted out without any of this 'buck passing' attitude.

any help here would be greatly appreciated

Many years ago I had a similar problem on a car. Turned out that the insulation on the starter motor winding was breaking down when hot so the motor didn't produce enough umph to turn the engine fast enough. Recon starter sorted it. Just a thought but it may be worth a try.

Surely if its under warrentee then the dealers issue is with Nanni and not the owner. Are the dealers Nanni dealers. If its a genuine fault I can't see why the owner has to pay a bean to get it rectified.
