Speaking of boat names with a double meaning. I crewed on a boat called Hard On, now the stringies know that’s a term used when beating to windward right?
Well we completed the race and stepped ashore for a barbeque and the presentation, followed by a few drinks. However, one of the crew spotted a nice looking young lady and decided to stay as we left to return to the boat for the night.
Now picture this, it’s about 2 in the morning and we are all on deck with the music blasting and rum flowing, a few guests have joined us from other boats anchored nearby. Our wayward crewman has returned to the end of a jetty and is calling at the top of his voice….Hard on…..Hard on. We cannot hear him, but some kind woman in a boat not far from the jetty called back,
Tell someone who cares, I’m trying to get some sleep.
