We only ever get as far as Abingdon once a year on the boat, but glad to see that a pub that has always been empty and derelict when we have gone, has been bought and re-opened.

Due to a combination of family and work responsibilities, dreadful weather and then Rushey Lock being unexpectedly closed during the one week last summer when the river was not on red boards,(breath in), Moxon has yet to make it down to Abingdon.

I think Abingdon and back is a week long trip for me, (unless rushing which defeats all objectives). My new job appears to come with one more week of leave than the last one. That combined with the certainty that 3013 will be a cracking summer and all locks will perform properly means little Moxon shall reach Abingdon. Maybe see you there.

I've only two years experience of boating on the Thames but on my bit it's never very busy, even in peak season. Just a bit busier sometimes. Perhaps that's cos it's rained ever since I bought my boat though.

can you moor up on their island if eating or drinking there, or do you still have to moor up on the public moorings and walk round to it.

There are no moorings on their Island, round the back by the Upper Reaches is too shallow and the other mooring is reserved for Salters.
